Supplemental Safety Plan

Adult & Junior Coaching

Family Golf

If everyone follows the same rules, we can ensure everyone’s safety.

Everyone must respect that COVID-19 is a dangerous health threat. We are very serious about managing the risks associated with Covid-19. Your cooperation and active participation are appreciated.

As outlined in the Club Safety Plan, we are committed to keeping our staff and customers safe while they are at our facility. Therefore, we are proactive with our Operational Processes–regularly reviewing the Ministry of Health and Peel Health websites for the most current information and best practices. The rules and procedures are in place to ensure that we operate a safe and organized place for everyone to learn and play.

Check-in

  • Please arrive between ten and fifteen minutes before the start of each session.
  • We will meet in a central location every class. The attached picture is of the Putting green on the South Side of the Clubhouse.
  • Pylons will be placed 6 feet apart before each class.
  • We request that participants place their equipment next to a Pylon in the designated coaching area upon arrival.
  • Please do not practice putting before the lesson.

While on the putting green

  • The coach will place pylons for each participant on the putting surface and the side of the green.
  • The two pylons will become the work area for each participant.
  • Please review the attached photos.

While on the range

We will use dividers to space participants from one another. Participants are requested to do the following:

  • Always remain in their assigned space.
  • Place their equipment behind their designated area.
  • Do not practice until the coach provides instructions
  • Do not retrieve golf balls until instructed by the coach.

While travelling between coaching areas

Spacing & Walking between the Range and Putting Green is part of the regular coordination of all groups. All participants must observe proper social distancing at all times.

When walking between the range and the putting green, participants are requested to walk in a single file at least six feet apart.

While on the golf course

On weeks three, six and nine, we have scheduled sessions on course. Participants should:

  • Arrive fifteen minutes before their session.
  • Must observe the proper rules for social distancing at all times.
  • Follow the direction of the coaches–especially with regards to the appropriate sequence of play and pace.

How to Handle Golf Balls during your lesson.

The video embedded below demonstrates how we intend to address the concerns of golf ball sanitization. We provide a pail with golf balls and a government-approved sanitation solution. In addition, every student is equipped with a basket/pail to retrieve their golf balls.

The process of scooping the balls from a bucket with balls and solution accomplishes two things:

  1. Ensures that every golf ball is cleaned and sanitized for safe use,
  2. Ensures that each participant sanitizes their hands.

MSDS for our sanitization solution is available upon request. Please note that we have specifically chosen a government-approved “food safe” solution to ensure the safety of all participants.

How will we coordinate trips to the washroom?

  • Participants should go to the bathroom before the start of their session.
  • Everyone must wear a face mask when in the proximity of the building–including the patio and putting green beside the Clubhouse.
  • Masks are mandatory in the Clubhouse. Peel health restricts the number of guests permitted in the building.
  • Please follow the instructions of the attendant at the front of the Clubhouse before entering.

If a participant requires to use the bathroom, I attached a schematic diagram of Mayfield’s washroom procedure. In the interest of safety,

The coaching will cover the washroom procedure in our opening session.

Our “Players Assistants” are available to facilitate participant’s use of the washroom.

What happens if it starts to rain during our lesson?

  • Golf is a game played outdoors. Unless the superintendent of greens deems the course unplayable or unsafe for play, golfers should continue to play.
  • When it starts to rain, the coach will ask all participants to return to their car and wait. During this period, the coaches will check the forecast and examine the radar.
  • If rain persists for more than 30 minutes, we will reschedule the class; otherwise, we will wait until the weather clears and it is safe to resume the session.
  •  Do not assume that we will reschedule a class if it is raining. Please check with your coach to confirm the status of the class.

What happens if there is lightning during our lesson?

  • Lightning is a severe hazard to golfers. When lightning is visible in the area, the golf course will sound the horn to clear the golf course.
  • In the event of lightning, the coach will ask all participants to return to their car and wait. During this period, the coaches will check the forecast and examine the radar.
  • If lightning persists for more than 30 minutes, we will reschedule the class; otherwise, we will wait until the weather clears and it is safe to resume the session.
  •  Do not assume that we will reschedule a class if there is lightning. Please check with your coach to confirm the status of the class.
