Assistant Golf Superintendent (Annual Salary 45k-55k)

Our Assistant Superintendent is retiring after three decades, creating an excellent new opportunity for the right person. The Successful Applicant will:

  • Have an experiential equivalent of and/or a degree or diploma in turf management (working experience in place of formal education will be considered — demonstration expected at interview).
  • Work six days a week with early morning starts April To November; weekdays November to March.
  • Accomplish assigned management and maintenance duties with enthusiasm and efficiency.
  •  Ontario Landscape Exterminators Licence and chainsaw maintenance and operation course are not required but an asset.
  • Availability, Reliability, and a Strong Work Ethic are both shared and valued.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Superintendent and key management personnel to maintain optimal golf course conditions.
  • Train and schedule maintenance personnel; oversee compliance with safety procedures.
  • Using the Mayfield Golf Club Maintenance and Health & Safety Policy Manuals, you will ensure compliance and perform reviews.
  • Assume the Superintendent’s role when they are unavailable.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and property in a professional manner.
  • Work in conjunction with Superintendent and key management. personnel re: IPM and pesticide/fertilizer management practices.
  • Experience running irrigation systems and performing necessary repairs is an asset.
  • Maintain and sharpen cutting equipment (can provide training).

Position: Permanent, Full Time, and Year-Round.

Equipment Technician ($15 – $20 per hour)

Mayfield Golf Club is a family-owned business that has successfully operated in Caledon, Ontario, since 1978.  If you are unafraid of rolling up your sleeves to work and learn, we have an exceptional opportunity to grow and develop with our Maintenance Team.  

We are currently looking for a full-time, seasonal equipment technician.

Job Overview

  • To assist the Head Mechanic in maintaining the proper operating the function of the golf course equipment.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance by changing oil, lubrication, replacing worn parts and adjusting golf course equipment daily.
  • Perform major and minor repairs.
  • Maintain service records on all equipment.
  • Maintain shop working areas in a neat, orderly fashion and adhere to all safety and compliance laws.
  • Work with Superintendent and Golf Maintenance crew.
  • Sharpening rotary blades and hand tools for golf course maintenance

Job Qualifications

  • Experience with small engines, 2 & 4 Stroke.
  • Experience in engine repair, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and reel grinding.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Organizational skills, able to multitask and act under pressure.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Available to work early hours and some weekends.
  • Able to Lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills with a solid ability to work well in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf an asset

 Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday (large tournaments or emergencies may lead to occasional weekend work)
  • Early Start times
  • Exposure to Heat/Cold/Rain
  • Moderately loud noises.

  • Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place

Job Type: Full-time Seasonal

Rate of Pay: $15 – $20 per hour

Golf Course Maintenance Staff ($14.50-$15.50 per hour)

Mayfield Golf Club is a family-owned business that has successfully operated in Caledon, Ontario, since 1978.  If you are unafraid of rolling up your sleeves to work and learn, we have an exceptional opportunity to grow and develop with our Maintenance Team.  

We are currently looking for a Golf Course Maintenance Staff.

Responsibilities:

  • General course maintenance duties include but are not limited to mowers, utility vehicles, and related equipment.
  • Raking and maintenance of green surrounds, bunkers, and tees
  • Operation of light equipment, including leaf blowers, string trimmers, power tools and mowers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent

  Qualifications:

  • Must be punctual.
  • Must be able to work early morning shifts.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays when required.
  • Must be able to complete assigned tasks and work unsupervised.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and have a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the game of golf is an asset.
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Previous golf course or landscaping experience is beneficial but not necessary.

 Job Type: Full-time Seasonal

  • 8-hour shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends
